Updated: Controvesy surrounds alleged American al Qaeda arrest

8 March 2010 UPDATED: Conflicting news reports suggest controversy surrounding the identity of “an American al Qaeda operative” captured in Pakistan, originally believed to be Adam GADAHN. American intelligence sources, initially confirming the identity of the individual captured, are now quickly retracting their confirmations. To be sure, this has happened in the past, but usually amid the fog of battle and when identification had to be made through DNA matching on a “High Value Target (HVT).”

This would not be necessary in the case of GADAHN, and the fact that retractions are the flavor of the day indicate something is quite amiss between and within U.S. Intelligence agencies and the Pakistani ISI, a relationship built on mutual distrust.

Regardless of the identity of the individual who was allegedly captured by the fully compromised ISI, the message issued this weekend by GADAHN must be understood in is proper context. It is definitely a “call to arms” for Muslims listening in America and should be treated as such. A comprehensive analysis of that 25 minute message (click HERE for important excerpt), should put all Americans on alert to possible “lone-wolf” style attacks against “soft targets” in the U.S.  Potential targets of particular concern include but are not limited to Jewish Synagogues and schools, Christian churches, retail and entertainment centers (American malls, movie theaters, etc.) and areas where groups of people frequently congregate.

It is important to note that a very significant rise in internet communications on password protected Arabic language Islamic message boards was noted immediately following the release of the GADAHN video. Many responses were motivational in nature, with promises of action consistent with the message from GADAHN.

7 March 2010: Adam GADAHN, the U.S.-born Muslim terrorist and spokesman for al-Qaeda, was reportedly arrested by Pakistani intelligence (ISI) agents in the southern city of Karachi, according to one U.S. intelligence source speaking on the condition of anonymity to this agency. GADAHN, also known as Azzam al- Amriki, was born and raised in Riverside, California and was charged with treason in 2006 – the first American to be so charged in more than 50 years. His arrest, however, comes at the same time as the release of a 25-minute video featuring GADAHN calling on all Muslims to launch attacks against soft targets.

During his 25 minute diatribe, he lavishly praised the actions of U.S. Army Major Nidal Malik HASSAN, GADAHN and urged all Muslims to launch their own “lone wolf” attacks against targets “which epitomize Western decadence, depravity, immorality and atheism.”

Accordingly, investigators and analysts of the Northeast Intelligence Network are urging all citizens to be extremely cautious and aware of suspicious and potentially significant activity.
