Former CAIR leader deported

20 February 2010: Former Dallas, Texas resident and national former board member for the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) and past chair of CAIR-Texas Nabil SADOUN was deported to his native Jordan after he failed to appear at his immigration hearing Friday. According to his attorney, SADOUN was already in Jordan and could not appear at the hearing as his permanent resident card was confiscated by the U.S. government.

Executive Office for Immigration Review Judge Anthony Rogers ruled that SADOUN left the U.S. and thus forfeited his rights to return. He has been a resident of the U.S. since 1993.

In addition to being a member of the board of CAIR, Nabil SADOUN was the co-founder of the Muslim American Youth Association (MAYA) with the nephew of Osama bin Laden (among others), and involved with MAYA through 2001. According to IRS returns, the MAYA received at least a quarter of a million dollars from the Saudi based construction company owned by the bin Laden family.

SADOUN also assisted in founding the United Association for Studies and Research (UASR), an organization whose members were involved with the terrorist group Hamas.
